- Crystal Dawn Weimer v. County of Fayette, Pennsylvania, et al.,United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania - No. 17-1265. Obtained summary judgment for former District Attorney and municipal entity in a civil rights case alleging wrongful prosecution for a crime that resulted in a lengthy imprisonment that ended after conviction was vacated (July 2022).
- Kimberly Rae Carbone v. Chief Robert Salem, et al., United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania - No. 15-1175. Obtained summary judgment in a case brought by a plaintiff alleging she was subjected to an inappropriate search and seizure when she was in custody on drug related charges. Plaintiff claimed a violation of her civil rights relating to being searched in an invasive way after an arrest. Subsequent appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit - No. 17-3780 affirmed the District Court's grant of summary judgment in favor of Defendants (October 2019).
- Larry Bowser v. Clarion County, Court of Common Pleas of Clarion County, Pennsylvania – No. 451 CD 2015. Obtained summary judgment in case brought by a Juvenile Probation Officer asserting age discrimination and hostile work environment relating to his termination due to his own improper conduct. Defendant argued that plaintiff Bowser was a state, rather than a County, employee, as the Probation Office is an arm of the court. (April 2018). Subsequent appeal to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania – No. 653 C.D. 2018 affirmed the order of the trial court. (March 2019).
- Thomas W. Shaffer v. Fayette County, et al., United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 14-309. Obtained summary judgment in case brought by a part-time assistant public defender relating to his termination due to his unsatisfactory job performance. (February 2016). Subsequent appeal to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania – No. 653 WDA 2017 denied and dismissal of case affirmed. (March 2018).
- Julia Hair v. Fayette County, et al., United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 15-241. Obtained summary judgment in a case brought by an employee of the Public Defender’s Office alleging discrimination, hostile work environment and retaliation under the Rehabilitation Act, Pennsylvania Human Relations Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, interference and retaliation under the Family Medical Leave Act, civil rights violations and intentional infliction of emotional distress. (September 2017).
- Sandra J. Babcock, Individually and on behalf of all those similarly situated, et al. v. Butler County, United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 12-394. Obtained dismissal of case brought by employees at the Butler County Prison (Plaintiff class) for alleged violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) concerning payment of a portion of their meal periods. (February 2014). Subsequent appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit – No.14-1467 denied and dismissal of case affirmed. (March 2016).
- Mary Ann Ruskin v. Beaver County, Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County, Pennsylvania – No. 11610 of 2013. Obtained dismissal of case brought by plaintiff alleging that her termination was in violation of the Pennsylvania Whistleblower Law. (September 2014).
- Samuel Scott Foglesong v. Somerset County and Lisa Lazzari-Strasiser, United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 12-77. Obtained summary judgment in case brought by plaintiff alleging a political patronage claim when defendant public official declined to reappoint plaintiff as a detective in the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office upon her appointment to that position. (September 2014).
- Hamborsky v. Fayette County, et al., United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 12-428. Obtained summary judgment in case brought by correctional officer relating to his termination after he was found bringing contraband and illegal substances into the jail. (May 2014).
- Church of Universal Love and Music, et al. v. Fayette County, et al., United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 10-1422. Obtain trial defense verdict in case brought by plaintiffs alleging a violation of their First Amendment rights to freedom of religion, speech and association and their Fourth Amendment rights to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures and malicious prosecution relating to a raid conducted by the Fayette County Drug Task Force at a "religious music event" taking place on CULM property. (July 2013).
- B.S. and B.S. as Guardian and Parent of T.S., G.S. and N.S. v. Somerset County, Somerset County Children and Youth Services, Jessica Eller and Julie Barth, United States District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania – No. 8-30. Obtained summary judgment in a case brought by a mother who claims that Somerset County, Somerset County CYS and Caseworkers Eller and Barth violated her constitutional rights to substantive and procedural due process in securing and effectuating the transfer of her minor daughter to the child’s natural father in accordance with a court order. Subsequent appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit denied in part and granted in part on damage issue ‒704 F.3d 250 (3d Cir. 2013).
